catchin' up

Sunday is my only day with Brent and pretty much my only day to look at our own family's day to day pictures. We often have many other things going on on Sundays and blogging tends to takes last priority. And quite frankly, by Sunday, I'm usually super sick of the computer by then anyway and need a break. I'm feeling an unusual desire to post our pictures today so I'm going with it.  Here is November and the end of October:

First Date... for the SIXTH time!!!
As many of you know we look forward to the day after thanksgiving more than any other holiday of the year.  Not for black friday, we hate shopping. No, we look forward to re-inacting the very first date we ever went on back in 2006. It was the best first date in the history of man so of course it must be re-inacted. We love it SO much. It brings back such fun memories.
The date always starts out with Brent "picking me up" from my parent's house.  I decided it'd be fun to take a picture with the kids every year to show how much our family changes year to year.

Then we go to Rumbi Grill at the Gateway, then Temple Square (we ACTUALLY got to see the lights turn on this time, it was a little after 5:00 when they turned on) then we looked at the museum which we love to do. It always gets me itchin' to paint and then I get depressed because I don't have time... anyway we didn't feel like bringing the camera around this time so no pics in Salt Lake. But we pulled it out in Bountiful when we went to Cold Stone. I was such a lucky girl on that first date back in the day. My charming personality awarded me an extension to the date instead of sending me on my way at the doorstep after seeing the lights. :) lol, anyway, I LOVE this ice cream. Here we are feeling silly with our big ol' camera takin' pictures of each other (okay, so I was probably the only one feeling awkward):

How I love this man! How have 5 years passed so quickly!?

On a random afternoon...
I looked out the window and what did I see?

Grizwald being a silly Monkey
He wasn't too happy by the time I put down the camera and helped him out of there.
Chico was having a blast though!

Sundays are the best because Daddy is home!!!

On a couple random days...
When Grizwald did this I ran and got my camera.  Then the rest of the pictures from this day are funny things my funny boys did throughout the day that I was able to capture because my camera was out. (I should leave it out more often)

Chico's thinking..."what!? that's allowed!? Scoot over Griz, I'm so in there!"
Photobucket

Wow Chico, that's pretty stylish...

Feel free to make yourself comfy while you completely mess up my kitchen.

He liked the noodles dry too.

Making himself comfy yet again:

Chico looks so old in this picture, my baby is turning into a little boy:

My little Indian...
I went to a Arrow of Light ceremony for one of my scouts. Chico came along and was fascinated as they put war paint on the scout. Within minutes of getting home I discovered Chico had administered war paint of his own (without looking in the mirror in fact, impressive huh!?)

All tuckered out...
I was running my kids ragged with so many errands apparently.  Chico sat down for a snack after we got home from errands and this is how I found him a couple minutes later.  I knew he was tired, but he's never fallen asleep eating before!!!

HALLOWEEN!
Halloween was a super busy yet somehow despite that a fun day.  I've never been so exhausted from Halloween in my whole life.

I let Chico help me carve a pumpkin that morning. Isn't he adorable?
Photobucket
He was a bit grossed out by the pumpkin guts which honestly surprised me considering he loves worms and dirt and such.

Then later that day we went to Dick's Market's Trunk or Treat with my mom and my friend. It was worth the long wait to get two big bags of candy! I even accidentally left one in the car and discovered it a week later so we got a new stock of candy the week after Halloween! Always a welcome treat. Here are the kids with their friends plus I noticed that the guy in the background looks exactly like our neighbor.... I don't remember seeing him there though! Oh and those fabulous legs underneath Grizwald are my mom's. :)

That night my awesome older sister came over to have a spooky dinner with me and the boys and then helped me take the boys trick or treating (Brent had class that night).  She made really tasty eyeball rolls and dirt n' worms brownies (why didn't I take a picture!? next year Em, next year)  I don't think I contributed much to the meal, I honestly can't remember.  I supplied the kids that we do all this stuff for anyway so there ya go, I did help out. :)
When we visited Grandma and Grandpa C I pulled out the camera and we took these pics:

Jedi Knight verses Medieval Knight... wait a second, how'd the Jedi get a hold of his shield?  Poor Chico, doesn't stand a chance.

And I was a princess...

SO... things I learned this year the hard way:
Use a stroller when you're trick or treating.
Don't eat all of your kids' Halloween Candy because it makes you feel gross and bad about yourself.
Don't use a costume with so many accessories. I was constantly having to put Chico's costume back on him because it'd fall off or he'd take it off.

All in all it was a lot of fun though. I definitely couldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did without Emily's help.

U OF U HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL!
A couple days before Halloween, Brent was studying at the U of U library and saw an advertisement for a Halloween carnival type thing that a student group was putting on for the kids of U of U students. We happen to fit into that non-trad student category and thought, "What the hey! Let's go!"
We met Brent up there but we made it to the tail end when most of the good stuff was gone. We did get some pumpkins and cookies out of it though. Another added bonus was that it was a BEAUtiful day and we got some fun pictures of the boys in the big field.

We were turned watching Griz for a bit and then turned around and Chico was almost at the top of a chain link fence! That kid LOVES to climb, it's so fun to watch.

Enter "Maximus" the horse.

He makes a good Maximus.  The following pictures crack me up to no end.

1st Halloween Party

My mom and I sewed Grizwald's costume this year. I was at the DI looking to see if they had any dragon costumes and all I could find was a plain jumper with some black fins along the arm. It was too plain for my liking so I kept looking and as I walked past a shelf, up on the top I saw a giant dragon stuffed animal. The wheels in my brain started turning, and luckily my mom the seamstress was there with me and I asked her if it would be possible to combine the jumper with the stuffed animal and create our own costume. She said it was and so we bought them. His costume cost $4 total and thanks to my mom's expertise it looks adorable. Photobucket

My Mom threw a doozey of a party. I think we did every Halloween activity possible except bobbing for apples. :)
Photobucket

I made these mummy dogs which tasted pretty dang good.
