Grizwald's Party

We had a party at the park for his birthday in the evening after Brent got off work.  It was a lovely day, we couldn't have asked for better weather and better company.
While we waited for everyone to arrive we had fun on the playground for a bit...

After eating some Alfredo Lasagna and salad I whipped out the birthday cake. I decided to do it similar to the cake smash pictures because it wasn't too hard to do for such a cute cake. Look out kids, the cakes might look like this more often than not. :)

"these polka dots look familiar..."

Watching Grizwald open his presents was so much fun. He was so excited about all the new toys and loved all the attention from everyone.

This next face is the tale end of his suprised/excited face after opening his first present.

He wanted to hop right on it and he started making engine noises as soon as he sat on it. This next picture shows him doing the engine growl...

Sorry, there are a bunch of him opening his presents. It was just too cute.

Some of his cousins showed up a little later because of difficulties on the road but we're glad they came for what they could of it. :)

His other cousins couldn't come because they were with their mom that weekend instead of with my brother.  So we met up with them at a park so they could wish him happy birthday and give him some presents. I had my camera with me, here are a few of them:

It's amazing how well our second child handles being surrounded by kids.

Chico has had a hard time with all of these new toys being Grizwald's and not his.  When he uses them he says he's "sharing" them.  It's been a little bit trying to tell you the truth. :)

Coming soon... the rest of October and then our spur of the moment trip to Zion.

Cake Smash

Sorry to those of you who have already seen these on Facebook. :)  I've just got to post them on here too, and they are so dang cute I'm sure you don't mind seeing them again. Especially with my narration this time....

I made this cake in the morning, then during Grizwald's nap I got the backdrop and lights set up. I knew I couldn't do this photo shoot by myself though so I had my mom come over to help with my cute Grizzly Bear.  We set the cake down and he was so pleased with this gift.
Photobucket

He poked at it a bit here and there as he tried to figure out what this was. He was especially interested in the polka dots.
Photobucket

He kept getting his face really low down next to it. I thought for sure he was going to stick his face in it. No such luck, that would have been hilarious though!
Photobucket

After he got through to the cake for the first time he kinda flipped out. I think he wasn't pleased about finding the cake or something.
Photobucket

But then he decided to taste it.
Photobucket

And decided, "hey this is pretty good stuff!"
Photobucket

And my cutie pie was happy the rest of the time eating his cake.

Then he decided he was done and stood up.  This picture makes it look like he's stepping on the cake. He's not, but that would have been pretty funny too. :)
Photobucket

And these next two pictures are just about the cutest pictures known to man I think. :)
Photobucket

Photobucket

Wait maybe THESE are the cutest ones.... oh man, it's too hard to decide.
We cleaned him up and let him play with some balloons and he LOVED it.

September in a nutshell

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do. With Brent in school my time is stretched more thin and blogging isn't one of those priorities that makes my list. Which is unfortunate because I'm sure I'd have a lot more journaling about these pictures if I did them soon after I took them. But alas, hopefully the pictures can speak for themselves enough in my memory that what I write is enough.
Photobucket
The beginning of the month we were browsing through Dollar Tree looking for a present for Chico's friend's birthday (yeah, we're cool like that).  As we were walking along we came across a Knight in Shining Armor Costume!!! We were so excited, especially because I was starting to wonder where in the world we'd find one.  Since then I have hid it until Halloween. He just looked so dang cute we had to get pictures at the time.
Photobucket

Brent took this beautiful picture.
Photobucket
It seems crazy that it wasn't that long ago that my kids could crawl around in onesies outside because it was so warm.  Talk about a warm September! It was awesome!!!
Photobucket

I decided that the boys and I needed to go feed the ducks and that we should invite along Chico's cousins. This particular duck was pretty awesome looking. :)
Photobucket

And these two boys are particularly cute together. They are best buds for sure.
Photobucket
I got three cheap loaves of bread and the kids had so much fun throwing the bread. I didn't know they'd be able to eat that much bread. We tore through it pretty fast.

And then the next day...
I left out this line and the boys got a hold of it and "Grizwald wrapped Chico up" though I don't think he knew that is what he was doing. :)Photobucket

I love their faces in this next picture:
Chico pretending to be worried and Grizwald's look is saying, "Don't try anythign Mr."
Photobucket

One Sunday afternoon when the boys were playing outside with Daddy, Brent captured these awesome faces of Griz.  These first two are faces I see him pull a lot. I am SO glad he captured them.

And of course, nothing like a Grizwald Smile.
Photobucket

I think this was earlier that day on Sunday before I had changed Grizwald out of his Sunday outfit.  I was taking a picture of how he can climb up into this rocking chair all by himself.  He is always SO proud of himself when he does that.
Photobucket
what's with the hammer you might ask... I used it on some stakes for a photo shoot and hadn't quite gotten it put away. :)

Coming up next... Grizwald's cake smash. :)
